With 25 years of extensive coaching experience across all age groups and levels, Coach June has become a respected figure in the volleyball community. Having spent 10 years coaching in Atlanta and 12 years in Texas, she has honed her skills in both club and high school volleyball. June is known for her ability to develop players’ technical skills, foster teamwork, and cultivate a winning mentality. Her dedication to the sport and commitment to her players’ growth have made June a trusted mentor and leader in the volleyball world.
June started her coaching journey in Knoxville TN when she was a student-athlete at the University of Tennessee she coached club with Smokey Mtn. Jrs. and assisted at Webb Catholic school. When she graduated from UTK with a degree in Sport Management she moved to Atlanta GA where June was the owner and director for North Atlanta Volleyball Club for 10 years. at the same time, June also coached high school at Riverwood HS from and Mount Vernon Presbyterian. It was 2011 when June met her husband Josh on a volleyball court and moved to Texas.
June has been the head coach at The Oakridge School for 12 years. With the Owls they had 8 elite 8 appearances, 4 final 4s, 3 trips to the finals, and one state championship. As well as achieving her 300th career win in 2022
In club, June has qualified 18 teams for the USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships and brought home a bronze medal in 2015 with her 15s team at Texas Image Volleyball and a National Championship with her 12s team at Drive Nation in 2023.
June and Josh have three sons and three dogs. They love going swimming and camping together
Coaching Philosophy
June’s philosophy emphasizes the importance of fundamentals while instilling a strong work ethic and a relentless drive to improve. She prioritizes teaching the fundamentals and strategy while always having purpose and passion for the game.
The focus on improvement balances the need for skills training with fun and fast-paced practices. It is critical to foster an environment where players push each other to excel and take ownership of their training process. The goal is to emphasize strategic thinking, adaptability, and teamwork. Recognizing that success on the court requires both individual skill and collective effort.
