Coaching Philosophy

Coach John is an seasoned coach with extensive experience in club, high school and collegiate programs. 

Core to his coaching philosophy is teamwork and hard work.  There is no substitute for putting in working and working together with others united in a common goal and mission.  John works to instill a confident and aggressive style of play in which small failures are embraced as a pathway to future success.  Additionally, he seek to instill lifelong lessons through volleyball such as discipline, team teamwork, and sisterhood.

Club Volleyball Accomplishments

John has developed, coached, and helped in the recruiting process over 200 DI – DIII players including 1 All American. He has coached for some of the most respected clubs in the nation including City Beach, Santa Barbara Volley Club, and most recently at A5

High School Coaching Highlights

John has coached high school volleyball for nearly 20 years from 2002 – 2020 at Bishop Lynch (TX),  Harrison (GA), Westmont and Newbury Park (CA). 

Bishop Lynch was consistently ranked as the #1 Private School volleyball program, top 20 in Texas, and top 10 in the Dallas Metroplex.  At BL John’s teams qualified and advanced to the Quarterfinals or above in every season that he was head coach. 

Harrison High school the reigning State Champions during John’s tenure was ranked top 10 in the Southern US volleyball Region, and top 5 in Georgia.  The teams advanced to the quarter-final or above in each of the seasons that John was the head coach.  John was instrumental in also 7 players from the 2018 and 2019 teams receiving D1 & D2 athletic scholarships and are currently playing volleyball at the collegiate level.

Collegiate Coaching Experience

Cameron University 2008-09

Winning Conference record that included qualifying the Cameron team to the end of the 2008 season Lone Star Conference tournament and advancing to the LSC semifinal.  This included a quarterfinal upset win over nationally-ranked Midwestern State University who entered the contest with a 27-7 record.
