Coach Vu has been coaching volleyball in North Texas since 2015. Growing up playing organized team sports, basketball and volleyball, provided experiences of friendship, sportsmanship and memories that he has always cherished. He looks to help create similar experiences for his players.

When not coaching, he works full-time as a systems analyst at a software development company. When not in the office or at the gym, you can find him on a golf course near you.

Coaching Philosophy

How great you play volleyball does not determine your character; however, the greatness of your character can be displayed in how you play, in preparation, in effort, in attitude and in the way you respect your opponents and the game of volleyball. Coach Vu hopes to pass along ten core values for success, on and off the court:

  1. Be on time: Be on time to better yourself. There is nothing as good as seeing yourself get better
  2. Be prepared: Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character – Alan Armstrong
  3. Be coachable: My best skill was that I was coachable – Michael Jordan
  4. Be ready to work hard: Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard – Albert Einstein
  5. Be ready to try: The most important thing, in anything you do, is always trying your hardest, because even if you try your hardest and it’s not as good as you’d hoped, you still have that sense of not letting yourself down – Tom Holland
  6. Be ready to fail: Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm – Winston Churchill
  7. Be passionate: Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate – Jon Bon Jovi
  8. Be positive: If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you – Mary Lou Retton
  9. Be nice: No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind – Taylor Swift
  10. Be YOU (most important): There is no one alive who is Youer than You – Dr. Seuss
